PLAY HARD TRAIN HARD

The season may be over, though for us hard core FIDA Saint footy stars we’re straight back into it !

Strength training sessions with my brother Joseph have officially commenced!

We’ve hit the Gym down at our local Sunshine leisure centre three days this week!

We can’t stress enough the importance to build that muscular strength. When you’re on the field, being physically stronger than an opponent serves as an advantage, especially when footy pumping is involved.

I recommend a 5 mins to warm up before the workout. Possibly some stretches. Boxing can be a great warm up if you're needing to spruce up on your self defence skills.

If you’re looking to build muscle you’re looking at about 3 sets of 6 reps for dedicated muscle routine. Choose a weight you will reach failure on the 6th repetition. If you’re looking for strength and endurance, cross-tracing is ideal for footy player. Choose a weight that you can smash about 10 to 15 reps on for a total of 3 sets. Don't forget to eat that protein as soon as you get home to give all the goodness your body needs to repair and build that muscle.

As you can see here we still maintain a rigorous cardio routine. This week I ran 70.9 kms, a record for me. Cardio is equally as important to maintain overall fitness.

No Gym work out would be complete without our ritualistic sauna and spa session.

Saunas a great way of clearing your system of unwanted toxins, and improving your circulatory system. Also remember you Sauna safety. 10 minutes is sufficient, if you start to get dizzy it's time to get out.

A big thanks to my brother Joe for leading the way in these fun sessions.

Remember Kids, keep hydrated and respect your elder.

By the way we are looking for more young footy warriors of the future to come and train with us. regardless of whether you’re on the FIDA or not, all are welcome. So drop us a line on 0423 581 664
