A Star is Born

This year may have been the planets most explosive year in history; everything from Brexit to Trump being elected. Wars rage on in the Middle East. Sadly we also lost some of our most cherished musical artists such as Prince, David Bowie and Leonard Cohen. Meanwhile on the other side of the globe, the humble citizens of Australia hold their breath as the next star is about to be born on national television.

Breaking: Australia has spoken and it will be Isaiah Firebrace who will join X-factor royalty. The 17 year old had an emotional breakdown when he heard is name being announced, before long friends and family stormed the stage to embrace the singer.

For Isaiah it wasn’t just about winning the Sony record contract, but a monumental sigh of financial relief. His dreams of supporting his family and buying them a house just got realer.

Across the country we’re seeing ongoing violation of the rights of Indigenous peoples within Australia. The genocide isn’t over; Racism is at an all time high, Indigenous communities are being closed down nation wide, children are still being taken… The fact that an indigenous boy was able to rise to stardom despite being vastly more disadvantaged than most Australians, gives indigenous youth hope…

On Saturday night, the Gap just got a little bit smaller thanks to courageous stars like Isaiah Firebrace. Look out for this new talent. Supporting Isiah is supporting homegrown talent as well as indigenous rights and culture.

Good on ya Cuz xxx
